This song has been stuck in my head on repeat for the last few months. I dare you to listen to this song a few times and not hum it for the rest of the day (or week.) The melody is almost as infectious as Peter,Bjorn, and Paul’s “Young Folks.” Lykke Li is a swedish girl who uses poppy beats and angelic coos to burrow her lyrics deep inside your brain. I can certainly recommend her newest release “Youth Novels” and as a bonus here is Lykke Li and Miike Snow’s cover of the Kings of Leon’s song “Knocked Up.”

Maybe it was a mixture of  The Who’s “Baba O’Riley” and The Smashing Pumpkins’  video for “1979” that influenced this new tee ( buy it HERE.)  I remember being 16 or 17 and just always feeling bored with everything. I never really want to be home  in my room, and certainly not at school or work.  The only place I ever wanted to be is with my friends, riding around, doing nothing.  It was never really about escaping boredom but just having your friends around to be bored with you.  In retrospect, I think its partly the boredom that makes that time in your life so fantastic, the care-free lifestyle that you know one day you’ll have to abandon.

So, what I wanted to communicate with this piece is, to stay bored. I know some people will look at this and say “Oh how terrible, that the youth are so bored, unmotivated and disconnected.”  But I would say to the contrary, I want to stay bored. I want to be bored with the music the radio plays. I want to be bored with the reality shows  and the nonsensical paranoia that the news station plays non-stop.  I want to be bored with the status quo, nine to five, get as much as you possibly can lifestyle.  I hope that you can relate, and that this shirt will mean something to you, and remind you to be bored enough to go out and make something exciting.
